Remarks. Several specimens from the Mediterranean Sea assigned to T. complanata were reviewed by Reverter- Gil & Souto (2019), who maintained as valid the records of this species from Catalonia and the Strait of Gibraltar (Zabala 1986; López de la Cuadra & García-Gómez 1988; López de la Cuadra 1991; see Reverter-Gil & Souto 2019 for comments about its geographic distribution).

The Alboran colonies have slightly smaller zooids (L 600–800 μm x W 350–600 μm) but within the range reported by Reverter-Gil & Souto (2019).
