Holotype: MZUSP 10153; adult male, 551 mm DW (cited as 579 mm DW in Rosa et al., 1987) (Fig. 21); Lago Janauacá and surroundings, Amazonas, Brazil; depth not listed; H. Britski; 3 Oct 1981.
Notes: Specimen with tail severed, kept attached in with plastic zip lock. Location on storage tag mentions “Rio Solimıes, above Rio Tefé”, thus the type-locality is possibly incorrect.
Paratype: MZUSP 14789; one juvenile male, 205 mm DW (approximately the same DW as cited in Rosa et al., 1987); Lago Janauacá and surroundings, Amazonas, Brazil; depth not listed; Alpha Helix Amazon Expedition; Jan 1977 /
Notes: Eyes removed. Skin removed in some portions. Tail broken. Location on storage tag mentions “Rio Solimıes”.
