Distribution. Caucasus (Bartolozzi & Sprecher-Uebersax 2006); Turkey, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iran (Imura 2010).

Distribution in Iran. Iran (without precise locality) (Imura 2010).

Remarks. The species was not recorded for Iran by Bartolozzi & Sprecher-Uebersax (2006) but was reported for the country by Imura (2010), without precise locality. Iablokov-Khnzorian (1967) and Baraud (1993) consider this species to be a synonym of P. caraboides . The taxonomy of the Caucasian Platycerus species seems still rather confused and a revision is necessary.
