Etymology. The specific name is a Latin noun in apposition that means onion. It refers to the curved embolus and the DEA of the male palp of this species, resembling onion leaves.
Diagnosis. Males of S. cepa (Figs 32, 42) are similar to those of S. crotalica (Figs 33, 43) by the elongate, thin embolus, but can be recognized by the embolus forming an arch in the male palp, while it is spiraled in S. crotalica . Females can be recognized by the developed copulation ducts (Fig. 140).
Description. Male (holotype). Total length: 3.77. Carapace orange, 1.85 long, 1.42 wide, 0.92 high (Fig. 135). Ocular quadrangle 1.13 long. Anterior eye row 1.17 wide and posterior 1.08 wide. Palp yellow (Figs 136‒137); stout RTA, elongated RvTA, no ITA; embolus elongated and thin, curved in an arch, the tip close to tegulum; DEA elongated and curved retrolaterally. Legs 1432, only I and IV with dark longitudinal stripes. Length of femur: I 1.48, II 1.02, III 1.04, IV 1.29; patella + tibia: I 2.02, II 1.20, III 1.28, IV 1.57; metatarsus + tarsus: I 1.40, II 1.02, III 1.15, IV 1.46. Spination on ventral tibia I: 2-2-2-2. Abdomen light brown, dorsally with an irregular longitudinal brown stripe (Fig. 135); ventrally light brown with a brown spot close to spinnerets.
Female (paratype 115989). Total length: 3.71. Carapace orange, 1.60 long, 1.05 wide, 0.71 high (Fig. 138). Ocular quadrangle 0.90 long. Anterior eye row 1.05 wide and posterior 0.93 wide. Legs 4132, as in male. Length of femur: I 1.00, II 0.82, III 0.86, IV 1.08; patella + tibia: I 1.39, II 0.95, III 0.90, IV 1.29; metatarsus + tarsus: I 0.88, II 0.82, III 0.99, IV 1.32. Spination as in male. Abdomen cream-colored, dorsally with three dark brown chevrons (Fig. 138); ventrally cream-colored. Epigyne as in Figs 139‒140.
