DISTRIBUTION: Angola to S Africa; thence north through Botswana, S Zaire, Malawi, Zambia, and Tanzania to SE Sudan and SW Ethiopia.

SYNONYMS: alces, canna, barbatus, billingae, kaufmanni, livingstonii, niediecki, oreas, pattersonianus, selousi, triangularis.
