Cremastinae Förster

Body of moderate proportions to very long and slender, metasoma usually strongly compressed. Clypeus separated from face by a groove, face usually pale-marked, mandible generally with two teeth. Sternaulus absent or weak, postpectal carina always complete. First mestasomal tergite elongate, its spiracle behind the middle or rarely at the middle. Ovipositor more or less extending beyond apex of metasoma, always bearing a subapical dorsal notch.

Spurs of all tibiae set in a membranous area and separated from the tarsal insertion by a sclerotized bridge (a character found in no other ichneumonids), tarsal claws partially to completely pectinate.
