Distribution and habitat. Coleodactylus septentrionalis is endemic to northern Amazonia, restricted to the mosaic of open vegetation areas and patches of forest, of the central-northern Guiana Shield, occurring in Brazil (state of Roraima), Guyana, and Venezuela (Fig. 5). Hoogmoed (1985) reported it from Suriname. Coleodactylus septentrionalis is terrestrial and diurnal, inhabits the border of primary and secondary terra firme forests with savanna, where it is found on sandy soil among the leaf litter (Vanzolini 1980; Cunha 1981; Hoogmoed 1985; Ávila-Pires 1995; Nascimento 1998; Vitt & Zani 1998; Molina et al. 2004; Vitt et al. 2005).
