Eclipta faurei (Peñaherrera-Leiva & Tavakilian, 2003)
Ommata (Eclipta) faurei Peñaherrera-Leiva & Tavakilian, 2003: 198, figs. 25, 47; Monné, 2005: 488 (cat.); Monné & Hovore, 2005: 121 (checklist); 2006: 121 (checklist).
The general appearance of Eclipta faurei is very different from that of Eclipta flavicollis (Bates, 1873) (type species of the genus): body shape; pronotal shape; elytral shape; legs (mainly hind ones). Those differences suggest that the species belong to a different and new genus. However, we examined a single female (without part of abdomen). Thus, the species is provisionally maintained in Eclipta until it is possible to study more specimens (mainly males).
Eclipta faurei was described and it is known only from French Guiana. It is now recorded from Brazil (Rondônia) for the first time.
