Caprimulgus europaeus Linnaeus, 1758

LITERATURE. — Borrow & Demey (2001, 2014); Sinclair & Ryan (2010).

STATUS. — Palaearctic migrant?

REMARK. — The presence of C. europaeus as widespread Palaearctic migrant is reported in all the field guides, including Borrow & Demey (2014). Recent works with geolocators indicate that the species winter mostly in southern tropical Africa, far outside the generally described wintering range (Norevik et al. 2017). The presence of this species in Burkina Faso requires additional assessment.
