Materials examined. China: 2 males, Zhejiang, hangzhou, 5-ix-2022, Wang, Ning coll. (SNNU) .

Redescription. Genitalia (Fig. 5). In dorsal view, transverse sclerite of epiphallus M-shaped, broad, ends distinctly enlarged and weakly ossified; in ventral view, the epiphallus triangular at the tip, lamellate and distinctly widened at the base; in lateral view, epiphallus L-shaped; ectoparamere U-shaped and laterally dilated.

Remarks. G. cycloptera is one of the smaller known species in the genus Gryllotalpa, and is similar in appearance to Gryllotalpa jinxiuensis You & Li, 1990, Gryllotalpa henana Cai & Niu, 1998, and Gryllotalpa breviabdominis Ma & Zhang, 2011 in that it is dark brown. The genitalia of G. cycloptera are damaged in its first description (Ma & Zhang, 2011), and here we have added description and illustration of its genitalia. Observation of the external morphology reveals that the pronotum of G. cycloptera is long ovate, abdomen segments 1 th –3 th are slender and expanded at the end, the forewings are shorter covering only the first three segments. In addition, the transverse sclerite of epiphallus of this species is M-shaped and L-shaped in lateral view. These features distinguish this species from others.
