Identification.

Small-sized skunk, with short legs and elongated body. The fur is black, with white stripes and spots. The tail is proportionately short, mainly white, black at the base. Occasionally recorded in the study area in transitional forest. In Costa Rica it is known only from the northwestern part of the country (Reid and Gόmez Zamora 2022).
