Identification.
Medium-sized bat with a totally white fur. The face and ears are yellowish and the wing membrane is pink. It is characterized by a sac around tail but no wing sacs. Roosts alone or with maximum 3–4 individuals together, frequently under palm leaves. Not abundant, but regularly recorded in various forested habitats. During our study it was frequently found under the Research Station’s roof. Its stable presence in the Wildlife Refuge is of particular interest as this bat is uncommon throughout Costa Rica (Wainwright 2007; Reid and Gόmez Zamora 2022).
