Lectotype (Stearn, Introd. Linnaeus’ Sp. Pl. (Ray Soc. ed.): 47. 1957): [icon] " Kiggelaria: mas" in Linnaeus, Hort. Cliff.: 462, t. 29. 1738 (see p. 85).

Generitype of Kiggelaria Linnaeus.

Current name: Kiggelaria africana L. ( Flacourtiaceae).

Note: Sleumer (in Polhill, Fl. Trop. E. Africa, Flacourtiaceae:. 31. 1975) and Killick (in Ross, Fl. Southern Africa 22: 62. 1976) both indicated material in LINN as the type but none of the four sheets there is original material for the name. Barrie (in Jarvis & al., Regnum Veg. 127: 59. 1993) therefore designated Herb. Clifford: 462, Kiggelaria 1 A (BM) as lectotype, but this choice is pre-dated by that of Stearn.
