Lectotype M (with associated larval and pupal exuviae): Rorota, [ Island of Cayenne], French Guiana (MNHP *); coll. E. Abonnenc; 6 July 1939; no. M.1543.

Wyeomyia rorotai was synonymized with Wy. pseudopecten Dyar & Knab by Lane (1951: 335). The species was resurrected from synonymy and a lectotype designated by Belkin (1968: 42). The type series (lectotype and eight paralectotypes, nos M.1544 to M.1551), originally deposited in the LPFM, was found in the MNHP by Dégallier & Claustre (1980: 144).
