Culex radiatus was synonymized with Cx. pilosus (Dyar & Knab) by Rozeboom & Komp (1950: 94). The type locality is erroneously restricted to Cayenne and Saut Tigre in A catalog of the mosquitoes of the world (Stone et al. 1959: 278; Knight & Stone 1977: 263). The holotype, originally deposited in the LPFM, was transferred to the FMP (Belkin 1968: 19) and found in the MNHP by Dégallier & Claustre (1980: 144).
