Holotype F (with associated larval and pupal exuviae): [Poste de] Saut Tigre, [ Sinnamary River], French Guiana (MNHP *); coll. G. Senevet and E. Abonnenc; 1 Jan. 1938; no. G.941(3).

Wyeomyia compta was recently synonymized with Wy. argenteorostris by Nascimento-Pereira et al. (2019: 365). The holotype, originally deposited in the LPFM, was transferred to the FMP (Belkin 1968: 42) and found in the MNHP by Dégallier & Claustre (1980: 144).
