45. Culex abonnenci Clastrier, 1970b: 468 (M).

Holotype M: Forêt du Gallion, French Guiana (MNHP); coll. J. Clastrier; 12 June 1968; no. 3477-5.

Despite all of our efforts, the holotype of Cx. abonnenci was not found. Because the holotype (pinned male and microscope slide with the dissected genitalia) was returned to J. Clastrier in 1987 (J. Pecor, personal communication), we consider that the specimen is probably misplaced in the MNHP. The paratype (no. 3477-13, microscope slide with the male genitalia only) is still in the NMNH (D. Pecor, personal communication).
