Holotype M: Confluent des rivières Oyac et Conté, Saint-Antoine, French Guiana (MNHP *); coll. P. Fauran; 4 Feb. 1957.

The type series of Cx. trisetosus was originally divided and deposited in the MNHP (holotype), the IPG (three paratypes) and the NMNH (one paratype) (Fauran 1961: 3). The three paratypes originally deposited in the IPG were transferred to the MNHP by Dégallier & Claustre (1980: 144).
