Original rank: species. Current rank and status: species.

Remarks: Brölemann (1909) considered S. puncticeps to be a synonym of S. angulata Newport, 1844, and Attems (1930) regarded it as an unrecognizable species. More importantly, however, it is a junior primary homonym of S. puncticeps Gervais, 1847, from Australia, a synonym of Cormocephalus westwoodi (Newport, 1844) . Scolopendra puncticeps was omitted by Bücherl (1974).
