Original rank: species. Current rank and status: synonym of Hemiscolopendra marginata (Say, 1821) (Hoffman & Shelley 1996, Shelley 2002).

Remarks: Scolopendra punctiventris was subsequently designated the type species of Hemiscolopendra Kraepelin, 1903, by Attems (1930:110).
