Original rank: species. Current rank and status: synonym of S. alternans Leach, 1815 (Kraepelin 1903; Brölemann 1909; Attems 1930; Bücherl 1939, 1942 a; Shelley 2002); I confirm this synonymy.

Remarks: There is also a specimen (MNHP) of S. alternans from St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, that is labeled as S. sagraea, a name that was omitted by Bücherl (1974).
