Syntypes (5 specimens, MHNG [P. Schwendinger, pers. comm.; examined]); type locality: Mexico without further specification .

Original rank: species. Current rank and status: synonym of S. pomacea C. L. Koch, 1847 (Kraepelin 1903, Attems 1930, Bücherl 1942 a). Based on my current concept (see “ Remarks ” under S. sumichrasti Saussure, 1860), this synonymy appears to be correct.

Anatomical illustrations: Saussure & Humbert (1872, pl. 5, figs. 7, 7a).

Remarks: Saussure & Humbert (1872) stated that S. olmeca occurs in temperate regions of the Mexican plateau, at Cuernavaca (Morelos) and Puebla (Puebla). The name was omitted by Bücherl (1974).
