(Figs. 47–51)
Holoplagia guamensis (Johannsen, 1948): 187. 1a–e. ( Scatopse). Type locality: “ Guam ”. Type, CUIC.
Ref.–Hardy, 1956: 91, figs. 2a (maxillary palpus), 2b (wing), 2c (male segment 7 and terminalia), d and e (female segment 7 and terminalia); Cook, 1957: 610 (redescription), figs. 7C (male terminalia), 7E (female terminalia), 7K (wing); Cook, 1967 (Nearctic catalog); Cook, 1989 (Australasian and Oceania catalog); Amorim, 2009 (Neotropical catalog); Haenni and Amorim, 2017 (photo of male).

Posterior portion of spiracular sclerite longer than anterior portion (Fig. 48). Aedeagus with a median projection flanked by a pair of digitiform projections, gonostyle even more developed, projecting distally beyond tip of aedeagus (Figs. 50 and 51). Material Examined. 1 ♂, United States, California, Los Angeles Co.: Monrovia, 34.158° N 117.999° W, BioSCAN site 35, Malaise trap, 1–8 September 2016, Brian Brown col., BioSCAN sample 18,375 (on slide) (LACM).
Distribution. Micronesia, Hawaii, United States (California, Florida Keys), Ghana, Panama, Colombia, Brazil, Nepal and Madagascar.
Remarks. A single male of this species was collected during the project, at BioSCAN site 35, in Monrovia, eastern Los Angeles County, in September. There are records of larvae of this species in bamboo phytotelmata (R. Kepler, personal communication). The cause for the ‘tropicopolitan’ distribution (Cook 1957) of this species in the world may be the introduction of the bamboo in different continents. There is an additional record of Holoplagia guamensis for the continental United States Florida Keys (Hribar and Huerta 2012).
There is one single specimen in the BOLDSystems website identified as Holoplagia guamensis (http://boldsystems.org/index.php/ Public_SearchTerms?query= Holoplagia [tax])
