Genus Zeugodacus Hendel
Zeugodacus Hendel, 1927: 26 .—raised to genus level by Virgilio et al., 2015: 177. Type species: Dacus caudatus Fabricius, 1805: 276 .
Diagnosis. Abdominal tergites free. Scutum with medial postsutural vitta except few species of subgenus Parasinodacus Drew & Romig and Paradacus Perkins. Sternite V of male with shallow/flat posterior emargination. Lateral surstylus longer than epandrium (profile view); posterior lobe of lateral surstylus 8̀„10 times longer than anterior lobe. Epandrium distinctly bulb-shaped (posterior view). Proctiger hyaline, triangular (when uninflated) smaller than epandrium. Phallus with well developed acrophallus (single semitubular lobe) and patterned/granulated praeputium. Dorsal sclerite of glans without hexagonal pattern. Aculeus dorsoventrally flattened with four pairs of preapical setae. This genus is closely related to Dacus as they share several male genitalia characters, namely epandrial shape, sternite V, praeputium patterning but can be differentiated by free abdominal tergites and four pairs of preapical setae.
