Type Locality: Cuba, Matanzas, Canimar (cafetal "San Antonio el Fundador").

Vernacular Names: Cuban Flower Bat.

Distribution: Cuba, Isle of Pines, Hispaniola.

Conservation: IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Lower Risk (nt).

Discussion: Subgenus Phyllonycteris . Includes obtusa; see Jones and Carter (1976) and Klingener et al. (1978). Also see Hall (1981), but note that he was unaware that obtusa was not extinct. Reviewed by Timm and Genoways (2003).
