Vernacular Names: Schmidt's Big-eared Bat.

Distribution: S Mexico to Guianas; NE Peru; Brazil.

Conservation: IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Lower Risk (lc).

Discussion: Ascorra et al. (1991) reviewed schmidtorum but referred some specimens to this species that were subsequently reidentified as either sanborni (Simmons, 1996) or brosseti (Simmons and Voss, 1998) .
