Platyrrhinus dorsalis Thomas 1900
Platyrrhinus dorsalis Thomas 1900, Ann. Mag. Nat. Hist., ser. 7, 5: 269.
Type Locality: Ecuador, Paramba, 1,100 m.
Vernacular Names: Thomas's Broad-nosed Bat.
Distribution: Panama to Peru and Bolivia.
Conservation: IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Although the named forms umbratus, oratus, and aquilus were regarded as synonyms of dorsalis by Carter and Rouk (1973), these apparently represent a distinct species for which the oldest name is umbratus; see Handley (1976).
