Discussion: Includes two tribes, Glossophagini and Lonchophillini, which are recognized as separate subfamilies by some authors. Baker et al. (2000) suggested that this subfamily may not be monophyletic, but see Carstens et al. (2002), who recovered a monophyletic Glossophaginae in a combined analysis of molecular and morphological data.
