Notes.

Niedenzuella currently comprises 18 accepted species (three threatened species; Suppl. material 1) of lianas endemic to rainforests, savannas, and seasonally dry tropical forests of South America (Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela) and Central America (Costa Rica and Panama; POWO 2024). Aenigmatanthera was reduced to a synonym of Niedenzuella by Almeida and van den Berg (2021) since its two species were recovered strongly supported as nested within the latter.
