No names have ever been published under the generic name Sprucina, but the collection cited in the protologue (Spruce 2853) refers to J. grisebachiana W. R. Anderson. Thus, J. grisebachiana is here designated as the type of Sprucina under Art. 10.2 Ex. 2 (Turland et al. 2018). Jubelina comprises six currently accepted species (one threatened species; Suppl. material 1) of lianas endemic to the rainforests of Brazil, Colombia, and Venezuela, South America (POWO 2024).
