Distribuição. Western Atlantic—Colombia and Brazil (from Maranhão to São Paulo, and Santa Catarina) (Melo 1996 as Podochela algicola; Coelho 2006; Bouzon & Freire 2007; Boos et al. 2012).
Ecological notes. From 24 to 90 m. Found on sand, and calcareous algae bottoms (Melo 1996). Associated with macroalgae (Bouzon & Freire 2007). Body camouflaged with pieces of algae among the setae of the ambulatory legs and on the carapace (Melo 2008 as Podochela algicola).
Remarks. Coelho (2006) transferred Podochela algicola from Podochela Stimpson to Coryrhynchus Kingsley, in a revision of the genus Podochela .
