Genus Metadesmolaimus Schuurmans Stekhoven, 1935
Diagnosis (from Lorenzen 1972, Fonseca & Bezerra 2014, Venekey et al. 2014, Li et al. 2023) Xyalidae . Cuticle finely striated with brownish appearance after glycerine preparation. Somatic setae scattered along the body. Inner labial sensilla setiform. Cephalic setae at the same level as the outer labial setae. Amphideal fovea circular, in some species elliptical. Buccal cavity extended, divided into anterior domed cheilostom by a distinct stomodeal cuticular ring and posterior conical esophastom. Two gonads; anterior to the left of intestine, posterior to the right. Spicules curved and proximally cephalated. Apophyses absent. Three caudal glands opening at separate pores. Tail conicocylindrical. Terminal setae absent, though subterminal setae might be present.
