Remarks. The species was originally named Brachygrapsus kingsleyi Miers, 1885 . Miers (1886: 232) assigned the species to Litocheira but stated “ Brachygrapsus kingsleyi, Miers, Narr. Chall. Exp., vol. i. pt. ii. p. 587, 1880.” His 1880 date of publication may be a typographical error but this is not evident in the Challenger Brachyura Errata. Türkay (1978) erected a new genus, Miersiograpsus, with Brachygrapsus kingsleyi Miers, 1885, as the type species and a new species Miersiograpsus australiensis . Michael Türkay is one of the few contemporary authors to quote the earlier Narrative description of Miers (1885).
