Current name: Ellychnia moesta (Perty, 1830); synonymy by McDermott 1966

Lucidota lugens was originally synonymized with Homalisus moestus by Olivier (1907). This was subsequently transferred to Ellychnia by McDermott (1966) which gave priority to the original moestus by Perty (1830). Three syntype specimens were located. A male specimen bearing a “Sp. figured” label and matching the locality referenced by Gorham (1881) was located. The figured male is herein designated as the lectotype, with the remaining two specimens designated as paralectotypes. Labels for the designated lectotype specimen are as follows:
