Etymology. The generic name is derived from Greek word gígas meaning “giant”, referring to the large size of the spider; and Greek word arachne meaning “spider”. The generic name is feminine.
Diagnosis. Gigarachne Jiang & Li , gen. nov. can be distinguished by the characters of the family, as given above.
Distribution. Late Cretaceous Kachin amber, Myanmar .
