Apletodon incognitus (Hofrichter & Patzner 1997) —Sea urchin clingfish
Two specimens in the collection of the MMF identified as Diplecogaster bimaculata belong to this genus and probably to this species but are too small to be identified with certainty (R. Hofrichter, pers. com). Specimens needed for confirmation.
Apletodon pellegrini Chabanaud, 1925 —Cubby clingfish
* Diplecogaster bimaculata (Bonnaterre, 1788) —Two-spotted clingfish
Recorded from Madeira by Fricke (2007).
* Lepadogaster candolii Risso, 1810 View in CoL —Connemarra clingfish
Not recorded from Madeira by Briggs in Whitehead et al. (1986: 1356-1357, L. candollei View in CoL ) even though it is the most common gobiesocid there. Recorded from Madeira by Wirtz (1994: 140-141) as Lepadogaster candollei View in CoL , with a color photo from Madeira.
* Lepadogaster lepadogaster (Bonnaterre, 1788) —Shore clingfish
Recorded from Madeira by Briggs in Whitehead et al. (1986: 1358) and Briggs in Quéro et al. (1990: 476) under the name Lepadogaster zebrina Lowe, 1839 . Taxonomic decision of Henriques et al. (2002: 334).
* Lepadogaster purpurea (Bonnaterre, 1788) —Cornish sucker
Recorded from Madeira by Briggs in Whitehead et al. (1986: 1357-1358) under the name Lepadogaster lepadogaster purpurea . Taxonomic decision of Henriques et al. (2002: 334).
