Cicindela duodecimguttata Dejean View in CoL – Twelve-
spotted tiger beetle (S5)
Cicindela duodecimguttata View in CoL has a broad distribution across North America, in the north ranging to northern Labrador, Alberta, and the Northwest Territories ( Acorn 2001; Catling 2006, Pearson et al. 2015). During fieldwork for the Far North Terrestrial Biodiversity Project between 2009 and 2014, it was the most widespread and frequently encountered tiger beetle. Typically, it is located in moist and open areas along sandy riparian habitats (Pearson et al. 2015).
In Ontario, C. duodecimguttata View in CoL was previously known in the south from the southern shores of James Bay in the east and Opasquia Provincial Park on the Ontario-Manitoba border in the west (Pearson et al. 2015). Our collection records extend the range by more than 300 km north (to 56.3° N) of the range mapped by Wallis (1961) and Pearson et al. (2015), reaching the extreme northwest of the province at the Ontario-Manitoba border ( Fig. 3 View Fig ) .
