Aulobia sylviettae ( Fain, Bochkov et Mironov, 2000) View in CoL comb. nov.
Syringophilopsis sylviettae Fain et al., 2000: 57 , Figs 79–82.
Remarks. The species Syringophilopsis sylviettae Fain et al., 2000 was described originally from Sylvietta whytti johnstoni Shelley ( Passeriformes : Sylviidae ) based on material from Rwanda ( Fain et al. 2000). Based on the original description and figures, this species has all characters that perfectly correspond to those of Aulobia , e.g. the hypostomal apex is ornamented by finger-like protuberances; the propodonotal shield is rectangular in the shape and with smooth surface; the unpaired hysteronotal shield is situated around bases of setae d2 and e; and the apodemes of legs I are parallel and not fused to apodemes II. Mites of the genus Syringophilopsis have the hypostomal apex ornamented by variously sized and shaped protuberances but never by finger-like projections; the propodonotal shield is more or less cleft on the anterior and lateral margins and covered by sculptured ornamentation; the hysteronotal shield is absent or represented by a pair of sclerites situated around the bases of setae d2; and apodemes I are divergent and fused to apodemes II. Therefore, we reassign S. sylviettae to the genus Aulobia .
