Material examined. Petro-UFS—899 (21 M, 16 F); size range: 19.51 ≤ CL ≤ 37.40 mm; average: CL = 22.34 ± 2.93 mm; CZUFS CRU- 00058. Penaeid—504 (208 M, 296 F); size range: 11.79 ≤ CL ≤ 39.30 mm; average: CL = 22.51 ± 3.90 mm; CZUFS CRU- 00342.
Stations. Petro-UFS—1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, 16, and 17; Penaeid—1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9.
Distribution. Western Atlantic—Matanzas Bay, and from Cuba to Brazil (from Amapá to Rio Grande do Sul) ( Costa et al. 2003).
Ecological notes. From shallow waters to 50 m ( Costa et al. 2003).
Remarks. Previously recorded as Penaeus schmitti ( D’Incao 1998; Barros & Pimentel 2001), and as Penaeus (Litopenaeus) schmitti ( Pérez-Farfante 1969) .
