Material examined. Petro-UFS—4 (3 F, 1 OF); size range: 4.79 ≤ CSL ≤ 13.78 mm; average: CSL = 8.52 ± 3.85 mm; CZUFS CRU- 00035. Penaeid—8 (5 M, 3 F); size range: 4.60 ≤ CSL ≤ 18.64 mm; average: CSL = 7.7 ± 4.50 mm; CZUFS CRU- 00259.

Stations. Petro-UFS—12 and 18; Penaeid—2, 4, 5, 6, and 7.

Distribution. Western Atlantic—USA (from North Carolina to the Gulf of Mexico), Antilles, Venezuela, Suri- name, Brazil (from Amapá to Rio Grande do Sul), and Uruguay ( Melo 1999).

Ecological notes. From shallow waters to a depth of 130 m. On mud, shell, sand, and Thalassia bottoms ( Melo 1999; Almeida et al. 2007 a, b).

Remarks. Mentioned by Smith (1869) and Moreira (1901) as Petrochirus granulatus ( Almeida et al. 2007 b) . Santos et al. (2016) collected specimens were downstream of the São Francisco River, at the border of Alagoas and Sergipe. Hermit crabs from Petro-UFS inhabiting shells of Xenophora conchyliophora (Born) and Turbinella laevigata Anton.

Previous records in Sergipe. Smith (1869), Coelho et al. (2007), as P. granulatus, Santos et al. (2016) .
