Latreutes parvulus ( Stimpson, 1871) View in CoL
Material examined. Petro-UFS—1 F; CL: 2.34 mm; CZUFS CRU- 00040.
Stations. Petro-UFS—4.
Distribution. Western Atlantic—New Jersey ( USA), Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Brazil (Sergipe and Bahia). Eastern Atlantic—Sahara to Congo ( Christoffersen 1982; Coelho et al. 1983; Almeida et al. 2012).
Ecological notes. From intertidal regions to a depth of 124 m. Normally among algae (red and brown), and on a variety of habitats as fine mud, clay, fine sand, broken shells, shell associated with foraminiferans and hydroids, seagrass flats, gorgonians, on polychaete sand reefs, and dead coral ( Christoffersen 1982; Almeida et al. 2007 b, 2012).
Remarks. Previously recorded as Rhynchocyclus parvulus Stimpson ( Ríos & Carvacho 1982) and as Concordia gibberosus Kingsley ( Kingsley 1880; De Grave & Fransen 2011). Might become a junior synonym of Latreutes antiborealis Holthuis due to the close relationship between these two species ( Carvacho & Ríos 1982; Ríos & Carvacho 1982).
Previous records in Sergipe. Coelho et al. (1983).
