Material examined. Holotype male ( ZIN №57540 ), Northern Pacific, Sea of Japan, the Peter the Great Bay, Buhta (Bay) Minonosok (42°56′9″N131°25′5″E), gravel-pebble bottom, among shells of Modiolus dufficilis , depth unknown, coll. A.N. Golikov, 8 Oct. 1965. GoogleMaps

Addition material. 10 females and 8 males ( LEMMI), Northern Pacific, Sea of Japan, Posjeta Bay , 42°37′46″N 131°6′45″E, gravel-pebble bottom, coll. I. Marin, 2012–2014. GoogleMaps

Remarks. Examination of the holotype of Clibanarius hirsutimanus from the Peter the Great Bay, Buhta (Bay) Minonosok (42°56′9″ N131°25′ 5″E) deposited at Zoological Institute of Russian Academy of Sciences (ZIN RAS, St. Petersburg) showed that all characters (please state the characters) agree well with the description of Areopaguristes nigroapiculus ( Komai, 2009) . Therefore A. nigroapiculus is a subjective junior synonym of Areopaguristes hirsutimanus ( Kobjakova, 1971) comb. nov.

At the present time, Areopaguristes hirsutimanus ( Kobjakova, 1971) comb. nov. ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 ) is one of the most numerous shallow water species on rocky and gravel substrates in Posjeta Bay, the Peter the Great Bay (Marin, 2013) and other areas along the Russian coast of the Sea of Japan ( Marin & Kornienko, 2014).

Komai (2009) noted that the specimens of Paguristes ortmanni reported from Vostok Bay (42°53′50″ N 132°43′ 46″E) ( Petryashov &Kornienko, 2006) actually have been found to represent the same species, but also represent A. nigroapiculus (= Areopaguristes hirsutimanus ( Kobjakova, 1971) comb. nov.).

Distribution. The species is reported from the Sea of Japan along the mainland coast from the northern part of the Peter the Great Bay to the South of Korean Peninsula, from Sakhalin and southern Kuril Islands to Akita Prefecture (Sea of Japan) and Sagami Bay (Pacific side) of Honsu Island; subtidal to 140 m, on rocky, gravel and sand substrates ( Komai, 2009; Hwang et al, 2014; present paper).
