Type locality and specimens. Habitat: Port Elizabeth, Dr. H. Brauns leg.

Dimensions. Pedum paria [leg pairs] ♀ 65, ♂ 61–63.

Type material. Syntypes 3♂, 1♀ ( ZMH-A0000570 , ZMH-A0006381–6383 ). SOUTH AFRICA: Eastern Cape Province, Port Elizabeth [33°57’29’’S, 25°36’00’’E] GoogleMaps .

Old type catalogue. Weidner (1960), p. 62, No. 10. Syntypes 3.

Type status. Silvestri (1907) did not specify the number of specimens in his original description and all are syntypes.

Curatorial remarks. 3 microscope slides are held at the ZMH (note on file card: “3 Präp., Syntypen, ohne Fundort, Crabill rev. et präp.”). The ZMH holds 4 syntypes, contra Weidner (1960) .

Collection remarks. The specimens were collected by the German medical doctor and entomologist Hans Brauns (1857–1929).

Current systematic position. Polygonarea kraepelini ( Silvestri, 1907) ; transferred to this genus by Attems (1909: 25).
