Type locality and specimens. Fundort [locality]: Afghanistan .

Dimensions. Länge [length] 70 mm. 83 Beinpaare [leg pairs].

Type material. Syntype ♀ ( ZMH-A0000706 ). AFGHANISTAN. No additional data [ca. 34°31’N, 69°11’E for Kabul] GoogleMaps .

Preservation. 1 jar: Label 1. Mesocanthus latisternus Att. ; Label 2. Afghanistan, Green C., X 09.; Label 3. Mesocanthus latisternus Att. (label with the imprint: Graf Attems, Wien, determ. 1928–1934).

Old type catalogue. Not listed .

Taxonomic remarks. Attems (1934) did not specify the number of specimens in his original description. This species is not listed by Weidner (1960) and Rack (1974) but the present specimen is clearly a syntype.

Current systematic position. Mesocanthus latisternus Attems, 1934 .
