Genus Oedematopiella View in CoL gen. nov.
Type species: Oedematopiella sarae sp. nov.
Diagnosis. Mesonotum metallic green with brown pruinosity and silvery-white maculation on area of postpronotal lobe; a pair of small postverticals present; ac absent; 6 pairs of strong dc; 2 strong lateral scutellar setae; first flagellomere ovate, arista dorsal; fore tarsomeres modified in males (MSSC); mid and hind femora with strong ventral setae in males (MSSC); cross-vein dm-cu at acute angle to posterior wing margin; sternum 4 with long, dense hairs; hypopygium partially hidden under postabdomen; Vsur strongly reduced to a small, narrow lobe; Dsur with two lobes; cercus with two arms. (Habitus see Fig. 5).
Description (male). Head: Face broad, almost parallel; eyes hairy; fronto-clypeal suture distinct, clypeus slightly protruding; “cheeks” not present; palpus long, narrow, and apically pointed, with long hairs; antenna dark; scape longer than pedicel and bare; pedicel short, with circlet of small apical setae; first flagellomere ovate, about as long as high; arista dorsal and bare; frons broad; pair of strong ocellar setae present, vertical setae absent; a pair of small postvertical setae present; upper postocular setae black and uniseriate, lower setae pale and mulitseriate; proboscis broad. Thorax: Mesonotum metallic green, with brown pruinosity and with silvery white maculation on area of postpronotal lobe; ac absent; 6 pairs of strong dc decreasing in size anteriad; 2 strong scutellar setae, and sometimes with 2–4 small median setae ( sarae ); 1 hm, 0 pm, 2 np, 1 sr, 1 sa, 1 pa; propleuron without strong setae but with pale hairs. Legs: Mainly dark and partially yellow; C bare of major setae; FI slightly thickened at base, FII and FIII with strong ventral setae (MSSC); It1 and It2 modified, It1 sometimes with special setation ( Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 ) (MSSC); pulvilli absent, claws well developed. Wing: Hyaline, with greyish tinge; R4+5 and M converging before wing margin; distal section of M almost parallel to posterior wing margin; cross-vein dm-cu at acute angle to posterior wing margin, and about 3 times as long as distal section of CuA. Abdomen: Stout and thick, longer than thorax, sternum 4 with dense hairs apically, forming hood and partially enclosing hypopygium; Vsur reduced; Dsur with two lobes; cercus divided into two arms. Female: Similar to male, but face broader and legs with larger part yellow.
Remarks. Oedematopiella gen. nov. is distinguished from the closely related genus Oedematopus by the following combination of characters: small postvertical setae present; crossvein dm-cu at acute angle to posterior wing margin; fore tarsomeres modified in males; sternum 4 with long hairs; Vsur strongly reduced; cercus divided into two arms. The gender is feminine.
