Simulium (Simulium) maklarini Takaoka, 2007: 291 View in CoL –295 (Female and pupa)

Specimen examined. One female, reared from a pupa collected a stream (width 20–50 cm, stream bed rocky, shaded, altitude 1,960 m), upstream of Carson waterfall, Timpohon, Mt. Kinabalu, 9-III-2015, by M. Sofian- Azirun & M. Razul.

Ecological notes. The pupa of this species was collected from a dead tree leaf in the water. Associated species included S. (S.) keningauense View in CoL .

Distribution. Sabah

Remarks. This species was described from one female reared from a pupa collected from a stream in Hot Spring Park, Poring, Kundasang, Sabah (Takaoka 2007). It is characterized by the whitish yellow female fore coxae, hind tibia with a white base, six pupal gill filaments divergent at about 90 degrees, and shoe-shaped-cocoon with a moderate anteroventral collar.
