Giloloa sofifi Huber View in CoL sp. n.
Figs 264 View FIGURES 264–271 , 272–274 View FIGURES 272–274
Gen.n. Ind206: Eberle et al. 2018 (molecular data); Huber et al. 2018: fig. 7.
Type material. INDONESIA: ♂ holotype, ZFMK ( Ar 20648), Halmahera, degraded forest along river near Sofifi (0.715°N, 127.586°E), 130–180 m a.s.l., 11.xi.2009 (S. Sutono), originally in pure ethanol, later transferred to 80% ethanol GoogleMaps .
Other material examined. None
Etymology. The species name is derived from the type locality; noun in apposition.
Diagnosis. Morphologically, the genus/species differs from most other known Pholcidae by shape of abdomen in dorsal view ( Fig. 264 View FIGURES 264–271 ; wide and obtuse posteriorly, similar only in Kairona gen. n. and in some species of Metagonia Simon, 1893 ). Male pedipalp similar to some species of Belisana Thorell, 1898 (e.g., B. fiji Huber, 2005 , figs 626–627 in Huber 2005a), but with distinctive retrolateral process on procursus ( Fig. 273 View FIGURES 272–274 ). Live specimens are apparently unique among Pholcidae by their pale orange ocular area ( Fig. 264 View FIGURES 264–271 ).
Description. Male (holotype). MEASUREMENTS. Total length 1.35, carapace width 0.50. Distance PME-PME 130 µm; diameter PME 60 µm; distance PME-ALE 10 µm; AME absent. Leg 1: 9.5 (2.4 + 0.2 + 2.4 + 3.6 + 0.9), tibia 2: 1.4, tibia 3: 0.8, tibia 4: 1.5; tibia 1 L/d: 48.
COLOR (in ethanol). Prosoma and legs pale whitish except for orange band between eye triads. Abdomen pale ochre-yellow with some indistinct darker marks dorsally.
BODY. Habitus as in Fig. 264 View FIGURES 264–271 . Ocular area not elevated. Thoracic furrow absent. Clypeus unmodified. Sternum wider than long (0.28/0.24), unmodified. Abdomen distinctively angular in dorsal view.
CHELICERAE. As in Fig. 274 View FIGURES 272–274 , with pair of simple pointed apophyses distally and pair of transparent processes proximally.
PALPS. As in Figs 272–273 View FIGURES 272–274 ; coxa unmodified, trochanter with ventral apophysis, femur moderately widened, larger than tibia; procursus slender, with distinctive retrolateral process and sclerotized and membranous distal elements; bulb with cylindrical embolus, without further process.
LEGS. Without spines and curved hairs, few vertical hairs; retrolateral trichobothrium of tibia 1 at 3.5%; tibia 1 without prolateral trichobothrium; tarsus 1 pseudosegments not seen.
Female. Unknown
Distribution. Known from type locality only ( Fig. 349 View FIGURE 349 ).
Natural history. The male was collected from the underside of a green leaf in a degraded forest ( Fig. 341 View FIGURES 336–341 ).
