Diagnosis. Elachista camilla externally resembles the palest specimens of E. bedellella ( Figs. 17, 18 View FIGURES 13 – 18 ). The male genitalia of E. camilla differ from the latter by the much smaller cornutus, broader digitate process and by the broader and shorter juxta lobes ( Fig. 25 View FIGURES 19 – 25 ). The female genitalia of E. camilla is characterised by the weak caudal dilation of the ductus bursae ( Fig. 63 View FIGURES 62 – 63 ).

Description. Forewing length 3.8– 5 mm. Length of labial palpus 1.1–1.2 times diameter of head, ochreous-greyish white, varyingly fuscous below. Head, neck tuft, scape and pedicel of antenna greyish white, flagellum grey, weakly annulated with paler rings in male, distinctly annulated in female. Scales of tegula and thorax varying from white to pale grey. Foreleg leaden grey with pale tarsal rings, mid- and hindleg pale grey, tibia and tarsal articles darker with pale distal rings. Forewing costa basally narrowly dark grey; ground colour consisting pale grey and darker grey tipped scales giving a mottled grey appearance, with following wing markings: white transverse outwardly bent fascia at 2/5 wing length, another medially outwardly angled fascia formed of medially fused crescent-shaped pale spot at 2/3 of costa and another similar but often larger spot at tornus; shorter fringe scales forming grey fringe line; fringe scales grey, along termen white. Underside of forewing grey, fringe scales basally ochreous, distally grey. Hindwing above and below grey with concolorous fringe scales.

Male genitalia. Uncus lobes oval-shaped, 1.5 times longer than broad, distally rounded, with a few setae distolaterally, separated by narrow, deep incision. Gnathos elongate oval, broadest medially, twice longer than wide, tapered towards pointed apex. Valva 3.5 times longer than wide at its widest point in the middle; costa evenly convex medially, distinctly emarginated in distal third; sacculus slightly emarginated in basal third, distally bent, with narrow sclerotised reinforcement, joining cucullus at a right angle; distal margin of cucullus straight, cucullus somewhat bent towards costa. Digitate process small, broad, distally blunt and setose, extending to 1/10 length of valva. Juxta lobes mesally produced as broad, parallel-sided and distally blunt and setose, bent lobe, lobe as long as diameter of median plate of juxta, juxta lobes laterally produced to form sclerotised triangular keel that is joined to valval process. Vinculum small, broad and rounded. Phallus 2/3 of the length of valva, rather broad in basal two-third, distal third distinctly narrower; caecum rounded; apex with eversible lobe, shaped as in Figs. 59 View FIGURE 59 G, H; cornutus formed as minute sclerotised plate with one blunt tooth.

Female genitalia. Papillae anales rounded, ventrally joined by narrow Y-shaped sclerotisation. Apophyses posteriores slender, straight, twice longer than the length of tergum 8. Apophyses anteriores half the length of apophyses posteriores. Ostium bursae in anterior margin of tergum 8, rounded, width 1/4 of the distance between apophyses anteriores; no distinctive antrum present; colliculum weakly sclerotised; ductus seminalis inserted near ostium; ductus bursae somewhat dilated near caudal 1/4, colliculum in the dilation, otherwise tubular, membranous, three times the length of apophyses posteriores; corpus bursae oval-shaped, medially with internal spines, signum absent.

Distribution. Known from Russia, Kuray in Altai Mts.
