Holotype. ♂, BRAZIL: Santa Catarina: Nova Teutônia, F. Plaumann [ LACM ENT 240085 About LACM ] ( MZSP; examined).

Species recognition. This species is recognized by the curved ventral lobe below the peglike setae.

Description. Body length: 1.88–2.81 mm. Head: Frons dark brown, second row of setae slightly concave. Flagellomere 1 oval, brown. Palpus of normal size, light brown to brown. Thorax: Scutum dark brown. Scutellum dark brown, with 2 pairs of setae; anterior seta one-half length of posterior seta. Pleuron brown to dark brown. Mean costal length 0.56 wing length, range 0.55–0.57. Halter yellow. Legs mostly brown to light brown, some specimens with dorsal half of anterior face of hind femur darker. Forecoxa in lateral view yellow to light brown. Foretibia with 2–4 dorsal setae. Foretarsomeres slender, elongate. Midcoxa dark brown. Hind coxa yellow to light brown. Hind coxal lobe light brown, only slightly developed. Posterior face of hind femur with peglike setae forming dorsal line and ventral group to short line; with small carina extending under ventral group and larger, transverse carina more distally ( Figs 137–138). Abdomen: Abdominal tergite 1 dark brown, tergites 2–6 dark brown to blackish-brown. Venter of abdomen brown, with sparse setae, posterior setae thicker and longer. Male terminalia dark brown, except cercus yellow.

Distribution. Brazil to Costa Rica.

COSTA RICA: Cartago: La Suiza ( MZSP) ; Heredia: La Selva Biological Station; Puntarenas: 24 km W Chacarita, 5 km SW Rincon, Monteverde; San José: Braulio Carrillo NP. PANAMA: Canal Zone: Barro Colorado Island ( INBC, LACM, MIUP, MUCR) .
