Species recognition. This species can be recognized by the combination of an elongate group of peglike setae with a pair of spinelike ventral processes on the hind femur.
Description. Body length: 1.84–2.22 mm. Head: Frons dark brown, second row of setae concave. Flagellomere 1 oval, light brown. Palpus of normal size, yellow. Thorax: Scutum light brown. Scutellum dark brown, with setae broken. Pleuron whitish-yellow, except proepisternum and dorsum of anepisternum brown. Mean costal length 0.52 wing length, range 0.51–0.52. Halter yellow. Legs yellowish-brown. Forecoxa in lateral view yellowish-brown. Foretibia with 3–4 dorsal setae. Foretarsomeres 1–3 enlarged, inflated ( Fig. 328). Midcoxa brown. Hind coxa whitish-yellow. Hind coxal lobe yellow, short, with short, dorsally-curved ventral process. Posterior face of hind femur with basal, curved, double row of peglike setae; more distally with two sharp spines on ventral margin ( Figs 59–60). Abdomen: Abdominal tergite 1 light brown, tergites 2–6 yellow medially and brown laterally, with medial yellow area decreasing in every tergite posteriorly. Venter of abdomen whitish-yellow to gray, with few setae, larger on posterior margin of segment 5. Male terminalia dark brown, except cercus yellow.
Distribution. Colombia and French Guiana.
Derivation of specific epithet. From Latin for thorny belly, referring to the spiny ventral margin of the hind femur.
